Major Recall: 700,000+ Honda Cars Affected by Fuel Pump Issue

Honda has recently produced several excellent and aesthetically pleasing vehicles. The latest models are a sales success for Honda because of their elegant yet straightforward design. In the first half of 2024, more than 834,000 automobiles were sold in North America. It’s not all sunshine and roses for Honda, though, since some of these vehicles might be dangerous.

Due to a significant problem that affects several of its most recent models, Honda has now announced a recall. This is a significant issue as it has to do with the newest fuel pumps that are utilized in these cars, and many automobiles might be impacted. This follows Honda’s significant recall for a different steering wheel problem.

A recall of a defective fuel pump

A significant recall involving the incorrect manufacturing of high-pressure fuel pumps that might cause cracking under load and gasoline leakage was announced by Honda and the NHTSA last week. In the event of ignition, continued operation of these pumps in this state may result in more cracks and even fire. According to Honda, the problem is so severe that it may happen to automobiles with minimal mileage and now affects over 720,000 vehicles. There have already been several reports of gas odors while the car was idle or being driven.

Honda

Since Honda just recalled more than 1.7 million vehicles in October owing to improperly manufactured steering racks—including vehicles from its sibling brand Acura—this is another setback for the company. The present gasoline pump problem hasn’t affected every car, though. A list of the cars impacted by this problem has been provided by Honda. Among them are:

  • 2023-2024 Honda Accord
  • 2023-2024 Honda Accord Hybrid
  • 2025 Honda Civic
  • 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid
  • 2023-2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid

Honda’s Solution

In February 2023, the first warranty claim for this problem was made. Prior to Honda issuing the recall, investigations started in March of the same year and the problem was ultimately identified in September 2024. Owners are urged to return their vehicles to dealers for a free inspection and replacement, as is customary.
