The LX, EX, and EX-L models come with this configuration by default. The nonhybrid EX-L was a little slow for its class and a few ticks slower than the hybrid model at our test track, taking 8.1 seconds to reach 60 mph.

Like the majority of its compact-crossover rivals, the Kia Sportage prioritizes room and adaptability over driving excitement or vigor. That complaint is mostly resolved by the more potent Sportage Hybrid and PHEV, which are evaluated independently.
The Kia Sportage will see some less significant upgrades in 2024 following a significant redesign last year. All Sportage models from Kia come equipped with LED projector headlights and airbags in the second row. For 2024, the SX variant with all-wheel drive is discontinued.

During our first test drive, we tried both the hybrid and standard four-cylinder powertrains, and we were more pleased with the hybrid. The hybrid Sportage reached 60 mph at our test track in 7.4 seconds, while the nonhybrid took 9.1 seconds.

The Forester is unchanged for the 2024 model year. The Base and Premium trim levels remain affordable, but the top of the list is occupied by the more expensive Limited and Touring models as well as the tough-looking Wilderness.

In 2024, Mazda will introduce the Carbon Turbo trim level to the CX-5, much like it did with the CX-30 crossover and the 3 sedan and hatchback. A CX-5 Carbon Turbo may be easily identified by its black wheel and mirror cap trim and brown Zircon Sand paint. All-wheel drive and a 2.5-liter inline-four turbocharged engine with 256 horsepower are available on Carbon Turbo variants.

When rushing about town or pulling away from stoplights, the CX-5’s base 187-hp four-cylinder engine offers excellent throttle response, making it feel faster than it is. It seems underpowered at higher speeds, such when attempting to pass or merge onto the interstate. We tried a 256-hp turbocharged variant, which accelerated far faster. All-wheel drive and a quick six-speed automatic transmission go well with both engines. To enjoy and recognize the greatness of the CX-5, you don’t have to drive it hard.

2024 Ford Escape
Ford continues to concentrate the Escape on a more conventional goal: simple, mainstream, on-road family mobility, even as more and more manufacturers add variants equipped for light-duty off-roading to their small crossover lines. Therefore, the Escape has two powertrain options: a 2.0-liter inline-four turbocharged engine and a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine. The latter makes this two-row crossover faster than many of its competitors.
In 2023, the Escape was given a stylish new front end, but it remains the same mechanically and aesthetically as it approaches 2024. With the removal of the base trim for 2024, the Active trim is now the new entrance barrier.

Available all-wheel-drive systems give an SUV’s stylish bark a little bite, but they work best for everyday suburban chores.
This year, the RAV4 will get Army Green, a paint hue that is currently available on a number of Toyota’s larger trucks and SUVs. The color will be available as a free option on the Adventure and TRD Off-Road grades. These versions will also come in a two-tone color combination with a black or white roof.
