The Prologue, Honda’s first electric SUV, is already one of the best-selling EVs in the US. The Honda Prologue is looking to be a success as demand increases.
In the US, sales of Honda Prologue EVs are increasing.
In the third quarter, sales of the electric SUV topped 12,600, making it the sixth best-selling EV in the US.
Cox Automotive claims that the Prologue was only behind the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Tesla’s Model Y, and the Model 3 Cybertruck.
Considering Honda didn’t sell any EVs in the US the previous year, the performance is remarkable. In October, Honda sold more than 4,100 Prologues, continuing to surpass a number of competitors. Last month, the Ford Mustang Mach-e sold 3,313 copies in the US, but the electric SUV sold more.
Honda Prologue sales in the US reached 18,309 as of October 2024, up from zero the previous year. In March, Honda started shipping Prologue vehicles.The SUV has a driving range of up to 296 miles and is built on GM’s Ultium platform. Honda improved the EV to make it stand out even though it shares a base with the latest models of Chevy, Cadillac, and GMC.

Honda gave it a more “sporty” feel by adding a multi-link front and rear suspension. Additionally, the Prologue has Google built in with support for Android Auto and AppleCarPlay, something GM no longer offers.

The 2024 Honda Prologue EX FWD trim starts at $47,400. With the $7,500 federal tax credit, the electric SUV could be bought for under $40,000 (not including the destination fee).
Honda is working rapidly to catch up, despite taking longer to launch its first electric SUV in the US.
As new versions arrive at showrooms, sales of the Prologue, like GM’s new Chevy Equinox and Blazer EVs, are surging in the US.
EV sales are “cooling” or “slowing,” according to headlines, while several automakers, including GM and Honda, are reporting record figures. It’s not a secret. GM and Honda are demonstrating that there is a market for long-range, technologically advanced EVs at competitive prices.
