The new generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire received five stars for adult occupants and four stars for kid occupants in the most recent round of Global NCAP crash testing. With an exceptional five-star Global NCAP certification for adult occupant safety and a four-star rating for child occupant protection, the brand-new Maruti Suzuki Dzire is set to make its debut in India on November 11.
For the nation’s biggest automaker, which has frequently come under fire for the safety ratings of its passenger cars, this is a big move.
The new Dzire, which comes standard with six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and pedestrian protection measures, is the first Maruti Suzuki vehicle to get a five-star safety certification from the Global NCAP.
The standards also include evaluations for side pole impact resistance and pedestrian safety for cars striving for the highest star ratings. When the Indo-Japanese manufacturer sent the new Dzire to Global NCAP for voluntary testing, it received a stable grade for both the footwell space and the structure, demonstrating its ability to withstand additional loads.
Three-point seat belts are installed in every seating position, and i-Size anchorages are included by default. The driver dummy’s head was completely protected in the pole test, but only marginally protected in the frontal collision test. Adult occupants were fully protected, according to the side impact test. According to Towards Zero Foundation Executive President David Ward,
“Compared to the previous iteration of this model and others from Maruti that we have tested, the new Dzire’s five-star rating sets a significant safety benchmark for Maruti Suzuki.” This significant voluntary test result is gratefully welcomed by Global NCAP.
The three-year-old dummy had acceptable head and chest protection, while the 18-month-old dummy showed complete protection in Global NCAP testing. However, a rearward-facing child restraint system (CRS) might improve neck protection. Complete protection was also demonstrated by the side impact testing for kid passengers.
