Software problems may have caused Mazda to issue several recalls for the two-row CX-70 and three-row CX-90. Mazda notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of a number of recalls on October 31, 2024, including defective dashboard electronics and software that may result in a loss of drive power.
Thousands of Mazda CX-90s and CX-70s manufactured between 2024 and 2025 are covered by each recall.
With a total impact on about 80,915 units, the problem with the dash’s electrical supply unit is the most common. According to Mazda, the battery’s high-voltage cooling system, seatbelt warning, 360-degree camera system, and defroster may not function when the plug-in hybrid cars are started.
Owners will be advised to take their car to a Mazda dealer so that a specialist may reprogramme the ESU software in the dash in order to fix the problem. There will be no charge for this.
Less CX-90 and CX-70 machines are included in the other two recalls, but they are more significant since the defective software may result in a drive power loss. 30,488 models are impacted by a single recall. A Mazda dealer must reprogramme their engine control module and powertrain control module as they may both malfunction.

According to the company, owners will be informed by December 30 and this will be covered under warranty.
The other recall has the same owner-notification schedule and free repair. 14,902 CX-90 and CX-70 plug-in hybrids, according to Mazda, contain incorrect inverter software.
This may result in a loss of driving power in EV mode and malfunctioning dash warning lights. In order to resolve the issue, Mazda advises customers to make an appointment with their neighborhood dealer, who will install updated inverter software.
