A new nine-speed with a lightweight magnesium casing and Z-specific programming took the place of the previous seven-speed.

After fixing the drivetrain, engineers focused on the suspension. In its day, the 370Z handled wonderfully, but in the last 12 years, things have changed. Engineers were able to boost spring, damper, and anti-roll bar rates without compromising ride quality thanks to lower-friction Tokico monotube shocks. In order to improve the steering’s centering and sensation of straight ahead, the front suspension caster was also enlarged, extending the contact patch for the front wheels. In order to improve lateral grip and the size of the contact patch, the front tires were finally expanded.
