California police now have a Tesla Cybertruck in their fleet

It took nearly a year for the Cybertruck to don a police uniform after its official premiere on November 30, 2023.

Although many auto aficionados dislike the controversial angular form

The Irvine Police Department appears to concur, since they just sent out its first police cybertruck.

Instead of painting the truck's body panels in the traditional black and white Police color scheme

the department decided to create a distinctive, original design with unique Police insignia throughout the vehicle.

For extra lighting, it also receives a specially made set of lamps installed on the hood.

The Cybertruck appears quite ominous in the image that Irvine Police posted on their Instagram page.

The broad fender flares and high-profile tires shout military, while the unique graphics give it a retro-futuristic appearance

The Irvine Police Department received both positive and negative feedback on Instagram after showcasing

The absurdity of a $153,000 vehicle purchased with public funds was criticized by several commentators.
